Connecting Rod Bearings

Virago Tech Archive (YahooGroups) mailing list
Hi Guys,

I'm rebuilding my XV1100 Virago (1990) and I'm to the point where I need to
order rod bearings. I know I need to order the green ones (crank has a 2
stamped on it and both rods have a 6 stamped on them - so 6 - 2 = 4 and 4
is green) but when I look at the diagram on Partzilla (
http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1990/VIRAGO+1100+-+XV1100AC/CRANKSHAFT+PISTON/parts.html)

I see that the right rod seems to call for 2 of the same bearing (# 15) and
the left rod seems to call for different bearings (#15 and #19).

What should I order?

Also, when I pulled the existing bearings from the rods, it seems that for
each rod, the top bearing was different than the bottom.

Thanks in advance,
-steve

It would appear to me that you have it correct and there is an error on PZ. You can check with Yamaha parts to be sure, but if your rods are stamped 6 and the crankshaft 2 then your bearings should be green on both rods.
